Der internationale Pitch-Wettbewerb Danube Cup 2021: 7 Universitäten, 4 Länder, 14 Teams, verbunden an 1 Fluss

Die Universität Passau ist zusammen mit dem Transferzentrum und der Gründungsförderung Kooperationspartnerin des diesjährigen Danube Cups. Das Ziel des Pitch-Wettbewerbs ist es, ein internationales und nachhaltiges Netzwerk zwischen den Universitäten entlang der Donau aufzubauen. Insgesamt nehmen am Danube Cup 14 verschiedene Gründerteams teil, darunter auch zwei studentische Start-ups der Universität Passau.

Welche Bedeutung diese Kooperation im Rahmen des Wettbewerbs für die Universität – und damit auch für das Transferzentrum und die Gründungsförderung – hat, betont Prof. Dr.Robert Obermaier, Vizepräsident für Forschung:

Neben der Universität Passau sind die Technische Universität Budapest, die Corvinus Universität Budapest, die Universität Belgrad, die Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien, die Johannes-Kepler-Universität Linz und die OTH Regensburg kooperierende Hochschulen beim Danube Cup 2021. Im Wettbewerb vertreten jeweils zwei studentische Start-up-Teams ihre Hochschulen.

Für die Teams bietet dieser hochkarätig internationale Wettbewerb eine außerordentliche Chance, Entrepreneurship-Erfahrungen zu sammeln und mit renommierten Unternehmerinnen und Unternehmern, Investorinnen und Inverstoren sowie Leiterinnen und Leitern von Incubation- und Accelerator-Programmen zu netzwerken.

Der Danube Cup 2021 wird insgesamt in zwei Runden im April ausgetragen. Das Halbfinale findet am 8. April statt, bei dem nur die Hälfte der teilnehmenden Teams ins Finale kommt. Der letzte und entscheidende Pitch des Danube Cups 2021 findet dann am 21. April im Rahmen der Startup SAFARI Budapest statt.

The University of Passau with its Transfer Centre and Business Start-up Support is a cooperating partner of the entrepreneurial pitch competition Danube Cup. A competition with the goal to build an international and sustainable network between universities along the Danube so that the participating universities with their students and lecturers will benefit from the cooperation in the long term.

This year the Danube Cup is organized as an international edition with seven universities from four different countries, after it has originally been started in 2015 as a competition between Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) and Corvinus University of Budapest. Each of the participating universities will be represented by two teams in the competition. All in all, the Danube Cup hosts 14 different start-up teams, of which two student start-up teams take part for the University of Passau.

Prof. Dr. Robert Obermaier, Vice President for Research, emphasizes the importance of this cooperation for both University and Transfer Centre, the latter being responsible for Business Start-up Support and so providing support for our teams during the competition:

„The University of Passau wants to intensify its support of the topic of entrepreneurship in an international context. With the Danube Cup, we are taking an important step towards this direction. The Danube Cup is a great initiative from among our international partners, which we are happy to support as a startup-friendly and startup-affine university.“

Apart from the University of Passau, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, the Corvinus University of Budapest, the University of Belgrade, the Vienna University of Economics and Business, the Johannes Kepler University Linz and the OTH Regensburg are cooperating universities for the Danube Cup 2021.

For the start-up teams the competition offers a unique chance to gain professional experience and seize invaluable business networking opportunities. The competing teams will also be inspired and mentored by renowned entrepreneurs, investors, and incubation and accelerator program leaders. All this will take place within the scope of an international competition in which the start-ups will compete with like-minded students.

The finals of Danube Cup 2021 are to be held in two rounds throughout April, the first one being a semi-final event on April 8th. The second one, being the final pitch of Danube Cup 2021, is going to take place on April 21st in the framework of Startup SAFARI Budapest.
