EN:

In this interview, the student start-up reveals how they feel after the finals of the major international pitch competition, what they take away from their participation and what their plans are for the future.

Passau based start-up Pionize is developing a digital platform that helps customers individually configure and control a smart home system for their own homes. With this business idea, the tech start-up successfully represented the University of Passau at the international Danube Cup 2021, making it to the final of the pitch competition.

The team completed the following sentences for us:

  1. Today, one day after the final, we feel a bit exhausted. Unfortunately, our main speaker Alex dropped out briefly before the start of the final day, which is why I (Max) had to spontaneously step in on the same day. But the whole team gave their best – and I have to say, it worked out great!
  2. The most unusual or unexpected thing about the Danube Cup was that we unfortunately only finished in sixth place. However, we still got a lot of great feedback, as some teams even contacted us after the competition and congratulated us on our successful pitch. That made up for our disappointment with the placement. In addition, over 5,500 digital votes from viewers for our pitch can speak for itself. We were very happy about that.
  3. If we could rewind, we would probably do something different in the final, and that would have been to present our new product concept. At that time, when we applied for the Danube Cup, this new strategy was not yet fully developed, which is why we did not present it. However, the extensive feedback from the jurors once again confirmed our previous considerations. This is good, because now we can start into the future with a lot of tailwind.
  4. Our biggest dream for our startup is that we will bring a lot of people into contact with the topic of smart homes. Due to the high complexity of the smart market, many people simply don’t find it worth their time and effort to „get to grips“ with smart homes. We want to prevent this at all costs, because in our opinion, everyone should at least have the opportunity to experience the support and more efficient organization of everyday life, the increased security in their own home, and enjoy the comfort – in other words, all the benefits of smart support.
This is exactly the opportunity we want to offer to all those interested in smart home by developing an intuitive platform that can be used without any expertise. For this we are ready to work very hard!
  5. Our next plan is to further hone our product so that we can launch it in August. We are working very hard on the usability of the product so that it is intuitive and easy to use for everyone, be it seniors or young adults. We are sure that we will be facing some interesting and challenging tasks in the near future and are looking forward to breaking new ground with our product!
